Die rote Pulpa besteht aus Milzsträngen und Milzsinus. Die Milzstränge werden durch ein Maschenwerk aus Retikulumzellen und retikulären Fasern gebildet, das viele Erythrozyten und Makrophagen beherbergt. Die Makrophagen haben Tusche phagozytiert, die intravenös verabreicht wurde. Die Milzsinus sind weite Kapillaren, die mit Uferzellen ausgekleidet sind aber keine kontinuierliche Basalmembran besitzen. Sie enthalten Erythrozyten und Leukozyten.

Hematoxylin and Eosin (H&E)

H&E is the most common survey stain, which shows cell nuclei and cytoplasmatic components.

Dyes:

Hematoxylin (e.g. hemalaun, Weigerts or Heidenhains iron-hematoxylin)
Hematoxylin is a positively charged dye (at low pH values). It therefore colors negatively charged (basophilic) structures blue, like the DNA of nuclear chromatin, the RNA of rough endoplasmatic reticulum, and the acidic glycosaminoglycans of hyaline cartilage.
Hematoxylin used in the preparation of iron varnish is Weigerts or Heidenhains iron-hematoxylin and in the preparation of aluminum varnish is hemalaun.
Eosin Eosin is a negatively charged dye used for counterstaining. It stains all remaining structures different shades of red (acidophilic).

Thiazinrot

Thiazinrot behaves similar as eosin.
Die Milzarterie (A. splenica aus der Bauchaorta) versorgt die Milz mit Blut. Über Trabekelarterien, Zentralarterien, Pinselarteriolen und Hülsenkapillaren mit einer Makrophagenscheide gelangt das Blut schließlich entweder in die Milzstränge und von dort in die Milzsinus (offener Kreislauf), oder direkt in die Milzsinus (geschlossener Kreislauf). Von dort wird es über die Pulpavenen und die Trabekelvenen in die Vena splenica transportiert, die es in die V. portae und damit der Leber zuführt.
