Das Übersichtsbild zeigt einen Frontalschnitt durch die Epiglottis, in dessen Zentrum die elastischen Knorpelstücke liegen. Diese sind intensiver rotbraun gefärbt als die Umgebung. An der Oberfläche ist als schmales Band das Epithel des Kehldeckels zu erkennen.

Elastic Fibre Staining

A special staining technique used to identify elastic fibres. The table below shows the dyes which selectively stain elastic fibres.

Die Epiglottis (Kehldeckel) ist eine Schleimhautfalte mit einer Skelettgrundlage aus elastischem Knorpel. Sie klappt sich beim Schlucken wie ein "Deckel" über den Kehlkopfeingang. Man unterscheidet eine linguale Seite, die zur Zunge zeigt und von unverhorntem Plattenepithel überzogen ist von einer laryngealen Seite mit respiratorischem Plattenepithel, die zum Kehlkopf zeigt.

2.Histologic specimen

Pull the mouse across the histologic specimen for training purposes. A small square with exclamation marks (dynamic labels) will appear where there is an important structure. You should then decide what structure this could be. To check your result, simply click the appropriate square, and the correct label will appear. The option “marked” allows you to see all labels for all structures simultaneously. These can be removed by clicking “unmarked”. This reactivates the dynamic labels.

Drawing: schematic drawing of the specimen
Staining: information about the staining method for this specimen
